Every year, our middle school students visit Nîmes, a Roman city famous for its well-preserved monuments: the arena, a two-storey amphitheatre built around AD 70 and still used for concerts and bullfights; the Maison Carrée, a white limestone Roman temple; and the Pont du Gard, a three-level aqueduct. The last two are about 2,000 years old.
