FAQ
Your questions about middle school.
Does every pupil sit the brevet?
Yes. Every 3e pupil, without exception, sits the diplôme national du brevet, the French national exam at the end of middle school, in its version without continuous assessment: everything is decided at the final exams, and the pass rate is regularly 100%. In connection with the Éducation nationale, pupils also take the ASSR 1 in 5e and the ASSR 2 in 3e, the school road-safety certificates.
Which English qualifications?
In 3e, pupils sit a Cambridge English exam, which certifies an internationally recognised level of English. The school has been recognised as a Preparation Centre of Excellence by Cambridge English.
How does the school prevent bullying?
Teachers stay close to pupils to spot the slightest sign of a pupil falling behind or being bullied. They supervise breaks, the lunch break and the time between lessons themselves, and every teenager can confide discreetly in the adult of their choice.
Can my child join without speaking French?
Yes. Every new pupil is guided by a classmate and can talk in their own language with a tutor child and, if needed, with an adult. French as a foreign language (FLE) lessons are available as an option, 90 minutes a week.
What about Spanish and other languages?
Spanish takes a bigger place than in primary, and visual arts are taught in Spanish from 6e. Drama and music are in English, and a Chinese club offers a fourth language.
Could my child change schools later?
Yes. Following the French national curriculum rigorously, together with Cambridge results, means pupils can easily join another school in France or abroad if the family moves.
Testimonial
I had a really good year in 4e with very good teachers and very good classmates. Then a very “reassuring” year in 3e for the brevet: the teachers prepare us for it, which gives you confidence before the real exam. The teachers are very understanding and very close to the pupils.
