Exam structure, results since 2017, 2025 dates, upcoming reforms and procedures: the key information about the DNB for parents of 3e students.
L'École Internationale Eridan prepares its 3e students to sit the Diplôme National du Brevet (DNB), a key exam that validates the knowledge and skills acquired in middle school. Here is the essential information for parents.
Exam structure and scoring
For Eridan students, the DNB consists of five exams scored out of a total of 400 points:
- French: 100 points (grammar, comprehension, dictation, writing)
- Mathematics: 100 points
- History-geography and Moral and Civic Education (EMC): 50 points
- Sciences: 50 points
- Modern foreign language: 100 points
To obtain the diploma, students must reach 200 points out of 400. Honours are awarded according to results:
- Assez Bien: 240 to 279 points
- Bien: 280 to 319 points
- Très Bien: 320 to 359 points
Comparison with public schools and private schools under contract
In public schools, the DNB is scored out of 800 points, with continuous assessment (400 points) and final exams (400 points). Students must obtain 400 points out of 800 to pass. The honours also differ, with a "Très Bien avec félicitations du jury" distinction for the best results.
Results at Eridan since 2017
Eridan has a high DNB pass rate, with 100% success in 2017, 2020 and 2023. In 2022 the pass rate was 94.1%, and in 2021 it was 90% despite the constraints linked to COVID-19. "Très Bien" honours are frequent, with 6 students earning this distinction in 2023.
2025 exam dates
The 2025 DNB exams will take place on 26 and 27 June for the regular session, and on 8 and 9 September for the resit session. The exams include French, mathematics, history-geography, EMC and sciences.
Upcoming reforms
From 2025, the DNB will be restructured with separate marks for history-geography and EMC, and will introduce the "Très Bien avec félicitations du jury" distinction. In 2026, the weight of the final exams will be increased, and from 2027 the DNB will become compulsory for entry into seconde.
Registration and procedures
DNB registration is done through the CYCLADES academic portal. Parents must check and sign the registration confirmations, and provide a copy of the student's identity document. Requests for exam accommodations must be sent to the rectorat between February and March. Exam notices will be distributed in May/June, and diplomas will be officially presented in December.
Eridan's policy
Eridan enters all its students for the DNB, whatever their level or length of time at the school. A diploma ceremony is held every year during the Christmas celebration.
In short, L'École Internationale Eridan supports its students towards success in the DNB with a high pass rate and personalised support.
