Theatre at Eridan and the 4e production of Romeo and Juliet
The school loves theatre as a way of learning languages. The next production, on 7 March at 5 pm, is by the 4e class.
We love theatre at Eridan and, whenever possible, we try to plan opportunities for our students to take part in or watch theatre as part of their learning experience.
Theatre provides an immersive language-learning experience. You hear and practise the language in a real-life context, which helps you understand how it is used in everyday situations and is especially helpful for developing listening and speaking skills. It is also an excellent way to expand vocabulary: students learn new words and phrases in the context of the performance, which helps them remember them more easily, and they learn how to use the language in different contexts. Theatre improves pronunciation too, as students hear native speakers and can mimic their pronunciation and intonation. Finally, learning a new language can be intimidating, but performing in front of an audience helps students build confidence, overcome their fear of speaking and improve their overall language skills.
The next Eridan production will take place on 7 March at 5 pm, and all are welcome to come and see the 4e class's performance of Romeo and Juliet set in Regency England.
