Middle and Grande Section pupils at the regional cancer institute
Moyenne Section and Grande Section pupils took part in two workshops at the ICM in Montpellier, on food and on the sun.
Pupils in Moyenne Section and Grande Section visited the regional cancer institute (ICM, Montpellier), where they took part in two major workshops, on food and on the sun.
The food workshop
It had three aims:
- to learn about a balanced diet;
- to learn where food comes from;
- to discover the four other senses that come into play when we eat, through sensory experiments.
The sun workshop
Its main aim is to make children aware that it is important to protect themselves from the sun, to show them how they can do so and to familiarise them with the means of protection.
During this workshop, the children learned the notion of shade, or of not being exposed to the sun. Using photos of the mascot, they were asked to tell situations of sun exposure from situations of non-exposure, and to identify which object casts a shadow.
