Every year, the vegetable garden is looked after through workshops in the different classes and by the garden club.

In spring 2021, the CE1-CE2 and CM1 classes planted flowers (sunflowers) and vegetables (cherry tomatoes) on the theme of treats, in the school garden. Here is the diary of this project, which ran over several months.

Project diary

  • 8 to 19 March 2021: working the soil in the plots.
  • 22 March: sunflower seeds planted. The tomatoes have started to grow.
  • 23 March: green bean seeds planted.
  • 26 March: science lesson on the conditions a seed needs to germinate (warmth, moisture, water...). The seeds will not be planted outside until it is warmer; they were watered before the weekend.
  • 2 April: seeds given to the pupils to look after during lockdown and the holidays.
  • 26 April: the pupils looked after their seedlings very well and brought back to school plants that were all equally vigorous.
  • 6 May: the weather allowed every pupil to plant their sunflower in the garden.
