Winter is coming: learning about hibernation
Our little learners explored hibernation through two picture books, then created artwork on the topic.
As the cold winter months approach, our little learners have been exploring the fascinating world of hibernation. We discovered how some animals, like bears and hedgehogs, sleep through the winter to survive the freezing temperatures.
To bring this topic to life, we read two wonderful stories:
- Bear Snores On by Karma Wilson, a charming tale of a bear who sleeps while other animals gather in his cave;
- It Was a Cold Dark Night by Tim Hopgood, the adventure of a little hedgehog looking for a warm place to sleep.
Inspired by these stories, the children created some beautiful artwork, showcasing their creativity and understanding of hibernation.
Through stories, discussions and hands-on activities, the children have gained a deeper appreciation for how animals adapt to the seasons.
